Amy is a Colorado native. This is her 7th year in DPS. Amy is a school psychologist and a certified mindfulness instructor. Her primary role is to share mindfulness with 3 elementary schools in the southwest region. Amy is passionate about mindfulness in education and is excited to bring this work to the staff, students, and families.
Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.
Amy received her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University and her Education Specialist Degree at the University of Colorado Denver. She completed a year-long mindfulness in education certification program with Mindful Schools. Amy is also bilingual and spent 2 years living and working in several schools in the south of Spain. In her free time she loves to be out in nature hiking and camping, practicing and teaching yoga, traveling, reading, and hanging out with her amazing husband and dog Zoey!
