Supervision
MORNING SUPERVISION
In the morning our playground supervision starts at 8:45 a.m. Students who come for breakfast may come at 8:15 a.m. The bell rings for all students to line up at 8:55 am.
LUNCH SUPERVISION
Our first goal of supervision is safety, so we have rules that are consistent throughout the school.
Students are engaged in games that Mrs. Tait has taught in PE. The number of students in each game is limited to their grade level + 1. So 3rd graders can have a game of no more than 4 members. This is to keep them active and playing.
CONFLICTS
Occasionally students get into conflicts on the playground.
We advise students to
- 1) Tell the teacher on the playground.
- 2) Tell their parent.
- 3) If the student reports "nothing happened" to the bully, then we ask that the parent call the office and report it to the principal or assistant principal.
We advise that students should do what they can to block the offender and do whatever is necessary to get away from them. If the student hits back instead of blocking and moving away, it is considered fighting.
We take part in Olweus Bullyproofing activities, character education themes, and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) systems for students.
