Today room 201, 207, 208 & 209 had an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture. Students explored a traditional Japanese garden, went to the museum and cultural center for life in rural Japan, saw a demonstration of Akido martial arts, did origami and even got to eat Japanese food with chopsticks at Domo! This is one field trip I know these students won’t soon forget! A huge thank you to Chris Squadra, and the volunteers from Peak Program Value who helped make this field trip such a success!

Sending a H-U-G-E THANK YOU to King Soopers (Store #78 on Wadsworth and Chatfield) who donated presents to families here at Doull. We had so much fun passing out presents to some deserving families. We are so grateful for the support from King Soopers. A special thank you to Ms. Graeber for coordinating this great opportunity for our students!
Reminder: On December 19th, Ms. Schnase (room 103) and Ms. Prentice (room 104) will be hosting OWL Parent Day in their rooms from 8:15-9:00am. Stop by to read with your student and learn some new math games. It should be lots of fun!
To celebrate our continued success and GREEN rating, we started off the day with GREEN donuts for our families before school. We filled our halls with GREEN balloons, streamers, GREEN clothing and GREEN face paint. In classrooms we gave out awards to students for their achievement and improvement on the PARCC test, and for students in Tier I on the iStation test. At the end of the day we had a school wide assembly where we celebrated being GREEN! We raffled off some really amazing prizes, from Play-Doh, puzzles, games, and books to bikes, mp4′s and even some kindle fire tablets! We also participated in Stuck for a Buck (a fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Society) and we stuck Mr. Suglia to the wall with GREEN tape. Our kids were soooooo PUMPED up and we had an AMAZING time! Way to go Doull Owls….HOOT HOOT!
Congratulations to all of the students who competed in our Spelling Bee today. We had many brave 3rd, 4th and 5th graders take on challenging words to spell aloud. I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to our top 3 spellers.
